Equality
NOMIS delivered the first EqIA on a major transport project for Crossrail. We were responsible for devising the methodology, consulting with equality groups, conducting the assessment and producing the Initial Screening, Race Equality Impact Assessment and full Equality Impact Assessment. NOMIS gave evidence to parliamentary select committee on inclusive consultation and equality issues. NOMIS have now undertaken four major Transport EqIAs to date for Crossrail, the East London Line Project, West London Trams and London Underground's Public Private Partnership upgrade programme. We produced Transport for London's Age Positive Equality Scheme covering the Employment Equality (Age) Regulations 2006 and service delivery. We developed an Equality Impact Assessment Manager's Guide for Transport for London against which all TfL projects can be assessed. This was applied by NOMIS to the West London Tram Project. Other assignments include a research study into examples of positive actions by employers regarding under represented groups in the workplace, comment analysis of TfL's Gender Equality Scheme and equality advice to accesseast's East London line extension bid. NOMIS are convening a Public Sector Round Table to provide a platform for practitioners with an interest in all types of EqIA to share experience of assessment methods, techniques and issues in order to develop good practice and raise industry standards. More information about the EqIA Public Sector Round Table can be found here. A description of the purpose and process of Equality Impact Assessment can be found here.
