Her field of research is the value of disabled access in the economic appraisal of transport projects. Specific research undertaken included a multiple case study of the inclusion of disabled access issues in the economic appraisal of tram systems and a stated preference study of willingness to pay for methods of access for disabled people at rail stations. She has over 10 years experience as a consultant, working for private sector organisations as diverse as Littlewoods and Arriva, public sector organisations such as Hampshire County Council and Transport for London, and voluntary sector organisations including Save the Children and the UK Disabled People's Council (formerly BCODP).
